The Purpose in Action

GoLatino! recognizes education as one of the most important elements needed in order to be good citizens. From profits generated by the Mexican Independence Day event, GoLatino! makes a 10% donation to the Latino Scholarship endowment fund, an initiative of our sister organization the Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC). That way, GoLatino! reaffirms its commitment to Latino youth and its commitment to the education of our low-income community members.

I enjoy coming to the Siempre Padres program with my parents. My teachers are very nice to me and they always give us ice cream or cookies. My dad is more kind to us now because he does not get angry so easily and he sits at the table with us to have diner after he comes home from work.

I learned to leave behind my fear and rejection and I learned that I could be a great leader. I also learned to work with a team and to share my ideas with others. Here is what I believe: “From now on I have made my choice. I am a leader and not a follower. I am a creator and not a destroyer. I am a leader!”

My team has played at different fields around the state. What I enjoyed most was when our U12 team went to the USA Cup in Blaine. We competed against teams from different countries, including Mexico. On my team I have learned to share because my coach told us that in order to win we have to pass the ball.

I have been attending La Victoria for over 3 years. Some of the most important things I learned here are to serve others, to be a leader and to respect the opinions of others. I hope La Victoria continues to grow.

Because of the help that I have received at Siempre Padres I have become a more committed father to my son. That is something I am very thankful for. I have found hope from the Bible and the power of God.

I like Summer Jam / La Victoria because I enjoy drawing and I like my teachers. I also like Fridays because we eat pizza.
