Mexican Independence Day Judging Criteria
Judges are selected by the parade staff approximately one month prior to the parade. Judges are selected by their background in areas of entertainment, parade experience, participation in community activities and sponsorship. The judges are given the criteria prior to the parade to familiarize themselves with the process. The judging process for the Mexican Independence Day Parade is done during the parade.
On parade day, the judges will be given a brief orientation by parade personnel and the judge’s forms will be presented. Each of the judge’s forms will have the float sponsor name listed, the organization’s title, and its unit number in the parade.
Once the parade and judging is complete, tabulators will tally the scores, judges confirm the winners and awards are distributed. Winner’s names are provided to the press and television representatives. Judges will be located at US Bank at the corner of Lake St. and 10th Ave. Participants should hold up their participant number clearly so the judges are able to see the group’s number as they pass.
Award winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m. on the Univision stage (Portland Ave. and Lake Street). Judges and participants should be to the stage by 2:30 to see the winners! We have plaques for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for Best of Show.
